THE EDGE — VENUE RULES Operated by Somewhat Stable Records LLC These rules apply to artists, performers, guests, contractors, vendors, event organizers, and other individuals using The Edge. By entering, performing at, or using the venue, individuals agree to follow these rules and the reasonable instructions of Somewhat Stable Records LLC (“SSR”) staff. The Edge is an independent, community-driven music space. These rules exist to protect the people, equipment, property, and community that make the space possible while preserving an environment where artists and audiences can freely participate in live music. 1. RESPECT THE SPACE Treat the venue, its equipment, staff, performers, neighbors, and other guests with respect. Intentional property damage, reckless behavior, harassment, fighting, theft, or conduct that creates an unreasonable danger to another person or the venue may result in immediate removal. 2. ARTIST ARRIVAL & LOAD-IN Artists must arrive at the load-in, soundcheck, or call time established for their event. If circumstances prevent an artist from arriving on time, the artist must notify the designated SSR contact as soon as reasonably possible. Equipment must be loaded through designated areas and stored where directed by venue staff. Entrances, exits, electrical equipment, and designated safety areas must remain unobstructed. 3. SOUND CHECK, PRODUCTION & STAGE CHANGES Artists must cooperate with SSR’s sound engineer, production staff, or designated show lead. Stage volume may need to be adjusted based on the room, equipment, neighboring properties, or safety considerations. Artists may not substantially modify the house PA, audio routing, electrical setup, stage configuration, or SSR equipment without authorization. Artists may bring their own PA equipment, sound engineer, or other production personnel when approved by SSR in advance. When SSR’s production system or equipment is being used, the acting sound engineer or venue lead retains final authority over the house system and may intervene when reasonably necessary to protect equipment, maintain safe operation, or address excessive sound levels. 4. VENUE EQUIPMENT Do not move, disconnect, modify, open, repair, or reconfigure SSR equipment without permission. This includes, but is not limited to: PA equipment; Speakers and monitors; Microphones; Audio interfaces; Mixers and computers; Amplifiers; Lighting; Cables and snakes; Stands; Furniture; and Studio or recording equipment. Normal wear resulting from authorized use is expected. Individuals or organizations may be held financially responsible for equipment or property damaged through intentional acts, reckless conduct, negligence, or unauthorized use. 5. PERSONAL EQUIPMENT Artists are responsible for their own instruments and personal equipment unless otherwise agreed in writing. SSR is not responsible for equipment or personal property that is lost, stolen, forgotten, or damaged except to the extent caused by SSR’s own negligence or misconduct. Personal equipment must be removed following an event unless storage has been specifically authorized. 6. ELECTRICAL & GENERAL SAFETY No person may connect unusually high-powered electrical equipment, modify electrical connections, use unauthorized power-distribution equipment, or access electrical panels without permission. Electrical shocks, damaged cables, exposed wiring, overheating equipment, unusual electrical behavior, spills near electrical equipment, structural hazards, or other potentially dangerous conditions must be reported to venue staff immediately. Equipment suspected of creating an electrical or safety hazard must be disconnected and may not be used until the issue has been resolved. Venue staff may pause or stop a performance, disconnect equipment, or restrict access to an area when reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern. 7. ALCOHOL Outside alcohol is prohibited unless specifically authorized in advance by SSR. Authorization by SSR does not override applicable law, licensing requirements, age restrictions, or conditions imposed on a particular event. No person may provide alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age. SSR reserves the right to confiscate unauthorized outside alcohol or require it to be removed from the premises. Individuals whose intoxication creates a safety issue or materially disrupts an event may be removed. 8. ILLEGAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES Possession, distribution, or use of illegal controlled substances on the property is prohibited. 9. MINORS & AGE-RESTRICTED EVENTS Minors may attend events at The Edge unless a particular event is designated as age-restricted. Events specifically designated as 21+, private, or otherwise age-restricted are subject to the requirements established for that event. Age restrictions will be determined based on the nature of the event, applicable law, and any requirements established by SSR or the event organizer. 10. MOSHING, CROWD SURFING & AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION Moshing, crowd surfing, dancing, and other forms of physical audience participation are generally permitted unless SSR determines that a particular activity must be stopped because of an immediate safety concern or the circumstances of a particular event. Participation in these activities is voluntary and carries inherent risks. Individuals are expected to exercise reasonable care toward other attendees. Each individual remains responsible for their own conduct. Responsibility for injury, property damage, or other harm arising from a particular incident will depend on the conduct and circumstances of the individuals involved. Permission for moshing, crowd surfing, or similar activity does not authorize intentional violence, assault, harassment, reckless conduct, or deliberate property damage. SSR staff may intervene when conduct creates an unreasonable danger to attendees, performers, staff, or property. 11. SMOKING & VAPING Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the performance and studio areas unless SSR has expressly designated an area where such activity is permitted. Cigarettes and other smoking materials must be properly extinguished and disposed of outside. 12. GUEST CONDUCT Artists and event organizers are expected to encourage respectful conduct among their personnel and invited parties. Harassment, threats, violence, deliberate property damage, theft, or dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. SSR staff may require any person to leave when reasonably necessary for safety, property protection, or continued operation of the event. The individual responsible for damaging SSR property may be held responsible for the resulting documented costs. An artist or event organizer may additionally be responsible for damage caused by its employees, contractors, crew members, or other persons acting on its behalf, subject to the applicable booking agreement. Artists are not automatically financially responsible for the independent actions of members of the general audience solely because those individuals attended their performance. 13. CAPACITY & ACCESS Entrances and exits must remain unobstructed. Restricted, staff-only, equipment, storage, and production areas may only be accessed with permission. Attendance may be limited based on the safe operating capacity established for a particular event. 14. FOOD & DRINK Open beverages must be kept away from audio, electrical, recording, and production equipment. Spills must be reported and cleaned immediately. Food and beverages may be prohibited from specific production or studio areas. 15. CLEANUP Artists, contractors, and event organizers are responsible for removing their personal equipment, merchandise, trash, and other materials following an event unless otherwise arranged. The venue must be left in substantially the same condition in which it was received, excluding ordinary wear associated with the event. Documented additional cleaning costs resulting from excessive mess, unauthorized materials, or damage may be charged to the responsible party when permitted by the applicable agreement. 16. MERCHANDISE Artists may sell approved merchandise during their event unless the applicable booking agreement provides otherwise. Merchandise must be located in designated areas and may not obstruct entrances, exits, production areas, or required access routes. Any revenue-sharing arrangement involving merchandise must be established separately in writing. 17. RECORDING & MEDIA Events at The Edge may be photographed, filmed, or recorded by SSR or authorized media personnel. Commercial recording, livestreaming, or production involving SSR equipment or facilities may require prior approval and may be governed by a separate agreement. Ownership and permitted use of professional recordings will be determined by the applicable artist, booking, production, or recording agreement. 18. ALTERATIONS TO THE PROPERTY Nothing may be permanently attached to walls, ceilings, floors, doors, electrical systems, or other portions of the property without authorization. Do not drill, paint, screw, nail, staple, or otherwise permanently modify the space without approval. Temporary decorations, signage, installations, or unusual stage elements must be approved before installation. 19. FIRE & SPECIAL EFFECTS Open flames, fireworks, pyrotechnics, smoke-generating devices, hazardous materials, and similar effects are prohibited unless specifically approved by SSR and legally permitted. 20. EVENT HOURS & CURFEW There is no universal performance curfew applicable to every event. Load-in times, performance times, event end times, cleanup deadlines, and any applicable curfew will be determined according to the nature of the event and the applicable booking agreement. Artists and event organizers must comply with the schedule established for their event. 21. SSR STAFF AUTHORITY During an event, SSR may designate a venue lead, production lead, sound engineer, or other authorized representative. Reasonable instructions from that person concerning safety, equipment, scheduling, sound, access, or venue operations must be followed. 22. DAMAGE & INCIDENT REPORTING Damage, injuries, equipment failures, electrical problems, conflicts, or other significant incidents must be reported to SSR staff as soon as reasonably possible. Individuals must not attempt unauthorized repairs to venue equipment or infrastructure. 23. VIOLATIONS Depending on the circumstances, violation of these rules may result in a warning, restriction from equipment or areas, removal from an event, termination of a booking, responsibility for documented damage or additional costs where permitted by contract, or restriction from future events. Serious safety threats, violence, intentional property damage, theft, or illegal activity may result in immediate removal without a prior warning. 24. THE PURPOSE OF THE EDGE The Edge exists to provide artists and the Chattanooga music community with an accessible, creative place to perform, collaborate, experiment, and build something meaningful. These rules are not intended to unnecessarily restrict artists or audiences.
